Anonymous: I have a serious question that touring people keep blowing off- How much do you (or an average merch manager/ tm) make on tour?

lol, guys.

but seriously- I don’t feel comfortable discussing what kind of money I make with a shadowy gray figure, or posting it on my public blog for the world to see. It’s nothing personal (obviously, I don’t know who you are) but nobody needs to know! There is a time and place for discussing wages and salary and it is NOT on tumblr. Also, I’m not a TM nor have I done any extensive merching for any specific band, so I can’t rightly answer this in the first place.

And honestly, it varies. The bigger the band, the bigger the paycheck. Obviously someone working for a band like All Time Low will make more than someone working for a lesser known band that can barely fill a bar. ALSO- bear in mind that these kinds of jobs don’t come with insurance, benefits, 401k plans, etc.

I will say this, though: I live with my parents, am covered by their insurance, drink cheap beer and shop at h&m while many people my age (22) who went corporate are buying cars and houses. Use your imagination.
